Liar Liar

This series speaks to the duplicity of humans—someone who intentionally misleads people. Until 1871, when Congress passed a law that prohibited the federal government from entering into additional treaties with the Indian tribes, nearly four hundred treaties were signed between Indian tribes and the U.S. The United States began making treaties with Native Peoples because they recognized they were independent nations, and although nearly all treaties were broken, which were in most cases coerced, treaties still define mutual obligations between the United States and Indian Nations today. The main concern today is water rights, specifically in the Southwest.
